Racing Champions Ertl Releases Speed Racer Mach 5 Replica
It was 35 years ago that "Speed Racer" and the Mach 5 first raced
across American TV screens as a syndicated half-hour cartoon. Driven
by "Speed Racer" himself, and maintained by "Pops" and "Sparky",
the Mach 5 was outfitted with a futuristic arsenal of special devices
that enabled it to leap, sprout special grip tires, extend rotary
saws and even operate under water!
Legions of youngsters dashed home from school to tune in to watch
every "race" and to see Speed and his pals outwit a never-ending
slew of shifty villains who were up to no good! Go, Speed Racer,
go!!
American Muscle goes all out - the edgy 1:18 scale die-cast Speed
Racer Mach V replicates the unique styling of the cartoon vehicle,
along with its awesome gadgets! These include a spring-loaded periscope;
"ion jacks" under the flip-forward hood that can be locked in place
to support the car; opening hood compartment housing Speed’s homing
robot; and an opening compartment on the rear. The hood opens to
a replica of the "actual" forged alloy aluminum turbine engine,
and the doors open to an interior that includes folding bucket seats.
A plastic Chim Chim figure is also included!
Be sure to look for the Speed Racer Mach 5 at your favorite retailer!
